The Science Communication Skills grant (pilot) supports organizations providing science communication skills training to students, fellows, and faculty in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) from Canadian postsecondary institutions. Promoting science and understanding how scientific inquiry works are critical to a vibrant science culture in Canada. Improved science communication increases science literacy, the appreciation of science in Canadian society, and the role of science in evidence-based decision making, while countering science-related misinformation.

To award scholarships to students who best exemplify the principles and purposes of the community and global engagement program at the University of Ottawa by devoting their time and energy to volunteering or other forms of community service in order to improve the plight of others.
The purpose of these scholarships is to infuse graduates with a keen sense of responsibility to others and an awareness of their obligation to “give back”, and to encourage alumni who, regardless of their chosen field, will use their good fortune as uOttawa graduates to improve the lives of others, either in Canada or abroad, in some meaningful way throughout their careers.

NSERC is launching a five-year pilot initiative intended to support the promotion of science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) to Canadian youth by Canadian youth. This will engage youth directly in becoming mentors and role models for other youth in order to help foster a science and engineering culture in Canada.
The purpose of the NSERC Student Ambassadors grant is to encourage post-secondary students and fellows to share their science and engineering experience with youth from groups that are under-represented in STEM.
